Facebook Caller Tones app
Been working on and off on design of this one for some time. It was released last week.
Caller Tones replace the ring-ring when your friends call you with something personal, like your favourite Kylie track.
Nice to see, 650 people have joined already and 139 have clicked like, plus some have given reviews with an average rating of 4.6 out of 5.

T-Box, coming soon
More good stuff coming out of our team is T-Box, sister to T-Hub.
Early review from APC Mag...
VIDEO | Telstra's T-Box seems more akin to something Apple would have produced -- it's really quite impressive.

We were quite struck by the ease of use and ‘flow’ demonstrated by the T-Box’s user interface — it seemed more akin to something designed by Apple, or Microsoft’s Xbox 360, than something Telstra would produce

Initial T-Hub press coverage
After sneak previews this week (pictured), Telstra's new T-Hub received coverage on Today Tonight (video) alongside the iPad, Star Trek gadgetry and Back to the Future's hover board.
It has also received a favourable Cnet first impressions review in which the challenge of making the home phone cool was compared with the challenge of resurrecting John Travolta's career pre Pulp Fiction.
Watch for imminent product launch and media campaign, press reports now rolling out.
14 April. Also in the Herald Sun New touch-screen phone at home
14 April. The Age. Telstra joins iPad fray (a little misleading when you compare price, is approximately akin to comparing a Ford Fiesta against a Ford Mondeo).
14 April. Herald Sun gadget pullout. Home phone not dead yet. Pictured below, including 5 star review.
14 April. SmartCompany, Telstra introduces tablet home phone device called T-Hub, but denies it's aimed at the iPad
14 April The Australian. Telstra puts fate in T-Hub
20 April, launch day Review from Gadget Guy (video)
20 April Start of the TV ad campaign (video)
25 April, comprehensive and balanced review from ITWire
20 May, David Thodey announces we have sold 10,000 units in first month
28 May, CRN review
Also heaps of Twitter buzz in a neat video, some good, some bad, that's life.

Touch screen tablet home phone. T-Hub
Your old home phone looking a bit tired and 20th century?
Telstra is soon to launch T-Hub, a touch-screen tablet home phone which includes web and media features. The upcoming features are a dramatic shift from your old home phone; make calls, conference call, view visual voicemail, use integrated Yellow pages as well as play music, watch video or TV, show off photo slideshows AND browse the web.
The UI is entirely designed by our Customer Experience team (including myself), providing real challenges in designing a new format touch-screen experience.
Check out T-Hub on YouTube.

Whereis Everyone
Another project I'm involved with is enhancing the customer experience and evolving the Whereis Everyone service.
This is a "buddy finder" that allows you and friends to locate each other in realtime from your Telstra mobile or online. Appropriate privacy and safeguard measures are built in to provide control and security.

Whereis Navigator
I'm now working on the customer experience of Whereis Navigator, a mobile client to find your way around town. Here's a nice little flash demo of the existing version.
I think this is a really great product. Mounted in-car on a suitable device like a Blackberry Bold or an HTC Diamond it really does the job. For someone like me who doesn't really need a dedicated device it's great to have the option of using a device I already own and you can even use it on a "day-pass" for the price of a latte if you only want to pay for it occasionally.
As it's connected to the internet and GPS it will soon have live feeds of handy stuff like traffic incidents, cheapest fuel nearby and even public transport and flight connections. A handy piece of software that works well when you need it and doesn't clutter up your life when you don't.

Zoos Digital Strategy
Currently working on a dream piece of work.
A Digital Strategy for Zoos Victoria. Included will be exciting new website features, mobile features, in-zoo screens for entertainment and learning and even possibly interactive screens for animals and visitors to interact.
Implicit in the strategy are objectives higher than business such as education and conservation.

Parks Victoria web strategy

I've just completed a strategy for the wonderful people at Parks Victoria.
There aren't really any screenshots or diagrams that I can include here so here is a quote from my clients at Parks Victoria.
Regarding the detailed report:
"I would like to reiterate how impressed I am with the work you have done here. This document is well-written, accessible and, most importantly, provides a compelling case for Parks Victoria to renew its website."
Manager Corporate Affairs
And regarding the presentation to the executive:
"I must pass on again my thanks for your fine work and presentation to our Executive. I have a number of consistent, positive comments from my colleagues and most particularly from our Chief Executive about your work. You have clearly conveyed your understanding of our business and the case for renewing our website... Thanks again to you and your team for the heart, soul and hard work you put into this."

Zoos Victoria
This new Zoos Victoria site has been perhaps the most enjoyable to work on of my career.
In particular I like the interactive maps.
The website now has a blog of Dokkoon the elephant's pregnancy including video of the ultrasound. A world first.

Telstra Business Mobile phone selector
Telstra have now implemented the Mobile Phone selector that I conceptualised as part of the strategy piece mentioned earlier in this blog and designed (along with my good friend Ben).
